Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan

Government is implementing a programme called as Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan which covers 5000 villages across the Maharashtra to make them scarcity free. This programme is a top priority programme announced by the chief Minister of Maharashtra. As Secretary of water conservation Mr. Prabhakar Deshmukh designed and formulated this programme and implemented this programme effectively in Maharashtra state in coordination with collectors of the district. The People’s contribution and involvement in this programme is key for success of the programme. This programme has resulted in  creating the protective irrigation for more than 4,00,000 hectare and has helped for assure income to the farmers. This year was a good monsoon in the drought affected area of Vidharba and Marathwada. The water conservation structure which has been built in the last one and half year are more than 2,00,000. These structure are full of water and has helped to improve ground water table in the area.


To boost this programme Amir Khan the renowned actor has detailed discussion with Mr. Prabhakar Deshmukh then the secretary of water conservation, now working as divisional commissioner of Konkan Region. Amir Khan has launched the programme called as Water Cup to be given to the villagers who has done excellent work in water conservation. The award giving ceremony was held at Y.B. Chavan centre near Mantralaya in the presence of honourable Chief Minister. During the programme Amir Khan mentioned the contribution of Mr. Prabhakar Deshmukh in the water conservation work.
